The 911 operators got a "workout" from Edinburg International Racetrack last week. On Wednesday Night March 24, the main line that supplies power to the track broke. The line, which runs from Highway 281 to the track, caused a grass fire on the spectator side. This happen at 8:50pm during a race. We called 911 for the fire department and Magic Valley to repair the line. At 10:10pm--racing resumed. Then on Saturday March 27, 911 got flooded by calls because of The Thunder Jam. Most of the "thunder" was set off by the triple jet engine semi-truck of Shockwave. A strong northern wind carried the jet sound into the City of Edinburg. Residents living as far away as Schunior Street (almost 9 miles south of the track) called about the sounds. I guess we need to warn 911 about Nitro Night on Saturday May 1st. We will have 3 second Nitro Injected Dueling Dragsters. Thanks...Isaac Ebrom Edinburg International Racetrack www.edinburgracetrack.com
