$30,000 and still can't run 5.50? Hope you got a warranty with it.
Tell us what you want and every one can change their car so you can compete since your car won't run the #.
Or a better idea, create a class just for you, you'll be the only in it and will win every time. Doubt it will pay enough to pay upkeep on a $3000 car.

Take a chill pill guy. We are a NHRA track. You would think that if they were making classes, they would be NHRA classes and that NHRA rules would apply. I was not asking for a special class, so I don't know where you got that. I was happy with the way things were last year, but that is just my opinion. I spent $30,000. I was running 6.60's 2 years ago. Brought a lighter car: $20,000. Brought an enclosed trailer $8,000. Used the same motor as before and now runs 5.70's. I could have spent another 10 grand on a hotter motor but I think that I spent enough money for now and need to pay some of this stuff off before investing more. Some of us still have to keep a roof over our heads.

8 posts whining and not one viable suggestion
My suggestion. run it on Sunday. Friday is not good for me. Get off at 5 Friday, home 5:30. hook up trailer, load car, grab a bite, and try to get to track by 7. We all know Sunday isn't going to happen so we do the best we can
QUOTE "Myself and Ed Galbraith run about the same ET, so we would be two other cars left out for Fridays."
Don't think you have to worry about Ed. He'll get in something, drive the finish line, and WIN!
QUOTE" I spent over $30,000.00 last year to get a faster car"
QUOTE "Brought a lighter car: $20,000."
QUOTE"Brought an enclosed trailer $8,000"
So you really only spent 20,000 an the car, not $30,000
$20,000 + $8,000 trailer = $28,000
QUOTE "Used the same motor as before and now runs 5.70's"
Should have $2000 left over to update the motor to get the other 2 tenths so you can run with us.
QUOTE"Some of us still have to keep a roof over our heads."
Hang on to that thought, hate to see you living under overpass on 83
So if anyone needs a chill pill, its you. While you're banging the keyboard the rest of us are getting our cars ready. Might want a math pill too. And a spelling pill. It's bought, not brought.
If you can't run with the big dogs stay under the porch ;D

Mike, Wow this post has gone on for longer then I thought possible. Since you are quoting the NHRA rule book heres a couple of things for you: * Page 57 of the 2009 rule book clearly states that each racetrack has the option of substituting its own selection of class titles and ET breaks. The rule book serves as a guide on what to run. * Since we ran a quick class last year, show me were it says there is a quick class in the NHRA rule book---it is track discretion. * Along the same lines last year the track ran a 5.50 Pro-Street class and a 9.90 Super Gas class. This year the Pro-street class has been changed to Pro Comp and the Super Gas class was done away with because in 5 years of runnning it there were never over 8 cars. In its place the track is implementing a 6.50 Pro Gas class. The track is trying to offer more Friday night 1/8 mile alternatives to continue to build these two classes. * Again, even though there isn't a quick class per se in the NHRA rule book the track is once again having it with the change being that its 5.50 or faster---a true quick class. * The track is also changing the way it runs its Saturday Brackets (2 races in a day) to continue to try and keep things growing. The track just poured new concrete to the 330 mark to make racing better and better.
I truly hope that the changes work. A business (and the racetrack is a business) has to continually change to keep growing or it dies. This is one of those attempts to grow the sport more. Have a great racing year and heres hoping you make a bunch of finals.
Please note like you I always sign my real name. I'm not a keyboard warrior.

Paul, I am not challenging the tracks authority to make these changes, and I know not everyone will be happy. I will be ones of those guys until I get out to the track. Getting behind the wheel always makes everything better and I guess it has been a long off season. As for chargrdrgr? ?? I also had to get a powerglide transmission and some other things for the car. I ran a 3 speed in my other car. Don't worry about me. I have never needed to be the fastest to do well. Don't need to work on my car. It's ready and talk is cheap so I will see you at the track. Don't get too busy quoting. You might miss a light.

How about calling the 5.50 and quicker class the Big Dog Class. Then make a 5.50 and slower class and call it the Little Pooch. What do you think? ;D

Quick and Quarter-Mile Clash on Friday Along with Pro Comp and Pro Gas, a Quick class plus the Quarter-Mile Clash will complement the two Heads up categories. This brings the total to four different classes a driver can enter on the Friday Night before the Bracket Bash (three 1/8-mile and one 1/4-mile). The major change for the Quick class this year is the 5.50 maximum dial-in time. All vehicles running faster than 5.50 can race in Quick—there will be no set number such as 8, 12, or 16. The category is open to dragsters, doorcars, roadster, altereds, etc. running 5.50 and faster. For the third consecutive year, the Quarter-Mile Clash gets an increase in prize money. Racers will now get paid for making the semifinals in the class also known as Test & Tune Trophy. While the class is mainly made up of streetcars and trucks, any person can enter any kind of vehicle. Quick 5.50 & quicker—All Run
WINNER $750.00 Runner up $300.00 Semis $75 Car & Driver $75 Payout based on 16 entries Plus 1st and 2nd place trophy
Quarter-Mile Clash Test & Tune Trophy Class
WINNER $120.00 Runner up $60.00 Semis $30.00
Car & Driver $30 All Run—Delay Boxes OK Thanks...Isaac Ebrom Edinburg International Racetrack

I thought you were above that stuff Batman. As I recall, the 2008 points champion for Electronics was a car running slower than 5:50. Where were the "big dogs"? Great job with the improvements in the track, guys. It should be another great year for racing. Thanks for giving us a great place to race.

Hey it’s great to see someone is reading this board
It is all about competition, being safe and having fun.
Where are the “big dogs”?
I could have spent over thirty grand on my car and be running foot break for three hundred dollars to win. When the round is over, that’s it.
Let the bashing begin. ;D
