PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE Rosillo Wins Dead-Heat Racing to a tie in drag racing is as rare as a triple play in baseball; the feat becomes even more usually when it happens in the final round. That is exactly what took place last Friday Night at Edinburg International Racetrack when Tony Rosillo won the Super Gas Shootout. Since the computerized timing system can calculate a driver’s speed to a thousandths of a second, two competitors infrequently have both the same reaction time and elapse-time. The driver who precisely matched Rosillo was John Alexander of Edinburg. The final round had Rosillo of McAllen and his 1955 Chevrolet pitted against Alexander’s 1968 Chevelle. Rosillo left the starting line with a near perfect .007 reaction time however the Chevelle of Alexander ran a faster time of a 9.911. Both cars reached the finish line together in what can be described as a photo finish. Alexander may have run quicker than Rosillo’s 9.939 but his slower start of .035 proved to be the difference in the drag racing. This week—along with the regular test & tune/fun and grudge drag racing—a Reaction Race takes place on Wednesday Night followed by Fun Ford Friday. Edinburg International Racetrack is located 9 miles north of Edinburg on Highway 281. For more information visit www.edinburgracetrack.com or call (956) 318-0355.
